Read to your kids the truth you want them to remember.
Bilingual Author
Matias Arredondo
Originally from Chile, I moved to Hawai’i with my wife and started working at the University of the Nations in Kona. I never considered writing children’s books until our son was born. Suddenly, most of what I was reading was for his age group, so I naturally started thinking about books I could buy for him. I tried to find bilingual books (in Spanish and English), and about Hawai’i, but not many were available.
I decided to fill the gap and create simple stories with strong values. Something that parents could read in a few minutes and kids could remember for life. Now I’m in this boat, guided by my inner child and looking forward to seeing where he takes me.
I hope that through my books, multicultural families can entertain and teach their children without choosing one language over another. I wish them to embrace the uniqueness of their blended worlds and cultures.

My Work
When I’m not writing children’s books or creating worlds in my mind, I work as a freelance editorial coordinator for Kona Coast Magazine, where I get to write stories about incredible people in Hawai’i Island.
I’m also a copy editor for West Knoxville City Lifestyle and Queen City Lifestyle, two excellent magazines I have the honor to be part of.
